Welcome to Doggie Happy Hour

Join us every Tuesday and Thursday from 5pm to 8pm in the courtyard of the Hotel Monaco Alexandria for the World Famous Doggie Happy Hour. We serve up complimentary gourmet doggie snacks with plenty of fresh water bowls to all of our canine friends. Humans can feast on regional American cuisine from the adjacent restaurant Jackson 20. With a significant emphasis on ingredients sourced from local waters and nearby farms. Jackson 20 is a contemporary Colonial style restaurant and bar that captures the simple, classic charm of Old Town Alexandria.

 

Hotel Monaco Alexandria is nestled in the heart of historic Old Town Alexandria, VA. Our very own Director of Pet Relations "Charlie" (a very handsome Bischon) will ensure all four legged guests of the Doggie Happy Hour have a great time. This pet friendly gathering is only minutes from downtown Washington, DC.

 

Doggie Happy Hour Howloween Event

 

Once again, Halloween is officially going to the dogs. Kimpton’s Hotel Monaco Alexandria and Jackson 20 restaurant are pleased to welcome back people and pooches alike to the Doggie Happy Hour Howloween Costume Contest. Taking place in the hotel’s charming brick-lined courtyard, this year’s festivities will occur on Thursday, October 29, 2009 from 4:30 p.m - 8:00 p.m to benefit the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, an animal sheltering and welfare organization located in Alexandria, Virginia.

Registration for the costume contest will be held inside the Royal Street entrance of the hotel courtyard, from 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Due to space constraints, registration will end at 100 dogs, so please arrive as early as possible.

Guests, two and four-legged alike, are encouraged to don creative costumes for the contest portion of the evening to compete with the leaders of the pack for prizes, including a Pampered Pooch package at 70 park avenue hotel in New York City with one night deluxe accommodations and all the pet pampering a dog could want.

Charlie, a handsome bichon frise and the hotel’s Director of Pet Relations, will be on-paw to welcome canine contestants and take part in a panel of celebrity judges that will award top dog honors in the following categories:

• The Most Glamorous Get-Up – awarded to the dog who best lets out his/her inner diva
• The Best Dressed Couple – awarded to the most creative pet/owner costume combo
• The ‘Top Dog’ Award – the grand prize for best all-around costume

The two and four-legged winners will be selected by a judge panel including:

• The Honorable William D. Euille, Mayor of Alexandria
• Hotel Monaco Alexandria General Manager Nick Gregory
• Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA) President Martha Armstrong
• President and CEO of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, Tina Leone

During the evening’s festivities, guests will enjoy Halloween treats and beverages from the adjacent restaurant Jackson 20. Complimentary gourmet doggie treats and fresh water bowls will be available for all canine friends, and humans can enjoy cocktails and light bites by Jackson 20’s Executive Chef Dennis Marron.
